Eliaquim Mangala plays as a defender for Porto. He was born on 13 February 1991 in Colombes, France.
In 1996 Mangala started his career in professional football in AC Lustin and spent 6 years with the club. In 2002 he moved to the CS Wépionnais academy where he was trained for 2 years. In 2004 the football player drew the interest of Namur which invited him to a try-out. After delivering impressive performance in the exhibition match Mangala was offered to join the academy of the club to develop his skills further. He spent three years at the Namur academy before moving to Standard Liège in 2007. Mangala finally prepared to start his professional career at the academy of this Belgian side.
In 2008 the young defender signed his first professional contract with Standard Liège where he had finished his football formation. During three seasons with this outfit he appeared in the starting eleven sometimes being utilized as a sub because he wasn´t always ready physically. From 2008 to 2011 the French defender made 76 appearances and kicked 3 goals.
In 2011 Mangala caught the eye of Porto which made the footballer an attractive offer. The Frenchman immediately agreed to commit his future to the Portuguese side signing a contract in the summer 2011. After joining the club Mangala took part in a pre-season training when the head coach found out if Eliaquim is ready to come on the pitch. The defender started his debut season on the bench sometimes appearing as a substitute. Nowadays Mangala makes rare starts for Porto gaining experience necessary to appear in the starting line-up.
Since 2009 Eliaquim Mangala netted twice in more than 20 matches for the France U-21 national team.
