A Brazilian footballer Elkeson de Oliveira Cardoso is currently playing for Botafogo. Elkeson was born on 13 July 1989 in Coelho Neto.
His junior career passed at the academy of Vitória. The youth career would span for almost nine years, since Elkeson first joined the club in 2001. After progressing on Vitória’s youth categories, the midfielder made his debut for the club’s senior side in 2009. The player together with team won the 2010 Copa do Nordeste. He also came first at the Campeonato Baiano under the club’s flag two times in a row (in 2009 and 2010). Altogether Elkeson made 47 appearances scoring 7 times.
In 2011, the midfielder was scouted by Botafogo. He managed a fabulous season with the club netting 19 goals in 66 matches. His performance in the Brasileirão was noticed by numerous clubs. Elkeson will move to China in 2013 to perform for Guangzhou Evergrande in the Chinese Super League.
