Elvir Rahimić is a midfielder of Bosnian descent, who plays for CSKA Moscow. He was born on 4 April 1976 in Živinice, SFR Yugoslavia.
Rahimić launched his career at local club Slaven Živinice, before signing a professional deal with NK Bosna in 1994. In 1997 he left the club Interblock Ljubljana, subsequently moving to Vorwärts Steyr. In 1999 Rahimić signed for Anzhi Makhachkala. He made his debut in the Russian premier league on 18 July 2001 in the fixture against Spartak Moscow. He quickly got a regular place in the team. During his 1999-2001 spell at the club Elvir made 84 appearances and scored 5 goals.
In 2001 Rahimić joined CSKA Moscow. From 2001 to 2012 Elvir Rahimić featured in 239 matches and scored 8 goals. He is an essential part of the club’s set-up.
On 2 June 2007 Rahimić debuted for Bosnia and Herzegovina in the match against Turkey. He also took part in 6 UEFA Euro 2008 qualifiers. He was selected for 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification, where his national team reached play-off stage. Rahimić has been a regular feature of the national team since 2007, registering over 30 international appearances.
