Émerson da Conceição is a Brazilian defender born on 23 February 1986 in São Paulo, Brazil.
Émerson emerged through Corinthians-PA’s youth system. The young footballer took part in the junior championship with his youth squad. In 2006 the Brazilian defender finally prepared to start his career at a professional level and was offered a move to the main team of Corinthians-PA.
In 2006 Émerson penned a contract with Corinthians-PA. During the 2006/2007 campaign he occasionally appeared in the starting line-up and gained necessary playing experience. Soon the young talented footballer attracted the attention of many European clubs.
In the summer 2007 Émerson signed a four-year contract with Lille. He periodically earned a place in the starting line-up coming on the pitch in half of all the matches each season. During four years the Brazilian defender featured in 84 games for French club Lille.
In 2011 Benfica entered into the final stage of negotiations concerning the player’s transfer. In the summer 2011 Émerson penned an agreement with this Portuguese club where he started to play successfully from the beginning of the 2011/2012 season.
In the 2011/2012 campaign Émerson was a very important figure in the club. He played on the left flank of the defence and helped to support the attack. The footballer reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League, being defeated by Chelsea. Émerson made 24 appearances for Benfica overall.
In the summer 2012 Émerson completed a move to Trabzonspor and one year later moved to Stade Rennais.
