Emiliano Viviano was born on 1 December 1985 in Florence, Italy. He is a goalkeeper under contract with Palermo.
Groomed in the youth ranks of Fiorentina and Brescia between 1999 and 2004, Emiliano joined Brescia as a full member of the professional team. He spent five decent seasons with the club amassing 126 senior appearances.
In 2009, he was noticed by Bologna scouts and soon joined the club as a first-choice goalkeeper. A pillar of the team, Viviano played in 72 games for Bologna during two seasons.
In 2011, Serie A giants Inter Milan bought out his contract from Bologna. But shortly after that Viviano picked up an injury to his knee and had to sit out for almost all the 2011/12 season, having only sporadic appearances for the reserves.
In 2012, Palermo sparked interest in an experienced goalkeeper, and Viviano preferred playing for less successful club to warming the bench at Inter. Thus, he left top-flight Internazionale for Palermo where he eventually could play to the full capacity. In the summer 2012, he was loaned to Fiorentina. One year later Viviano joined Arsenal to provide a cover-up for Polish goalkeepers.
Emiliano Viviano is capped to the Italy national team since 2010. He earned his international recognition during the 2005 U-20 World Cup where he performed as a first-choice goalkeeper.
