Emilio Butragueño is a retired football player from Spain. He was born in 1963 and in 1981 joined Real Madrid’s academy and soon began to play for the reserve squad. His first team debut came on 5 February 1984 in the match against Cádiz CF. He played for Real Madrid until 1995 and throughout that period they won six La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey titles, in 1984/85 and 1985/86 the team was UEFA Cup winner. By the end of his stay with them Butragueño fell out of favor and left the club for a Mexican side Club Celaya. There he spent three seasons and then retired from playing in April 1998. In 2004 he became the director of football at Real Madrid and then was the vice-president of the club.
Butragueño earned his first cap for the Spain national team on 17 October 1984 in a 1986 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Wales. All in all he made 69 appearances for Spain and scored 26 goals.
