Emilio Arturo Izaguirre Girón is a footballer from Honduras, playing for Celtic as a defender. He was born in 1986 and began his professional career in the Honduran team Motagua. There he stayed between 2003 and 2010. In 2008 he had a trial at Ipswich Town but failed to move and interest from Toronto FC also didn’t end in a deal.
On 18 August 2010 Izaguirre completed a move to the Scottish Premier League side Celtic. His debut came on 29 August in the match against Motherwell, which was a 1-0 win. On 30 October 2010, Izaguirre netted his first goal for the team in the game against St. Johnstone, which ended in a 3-0 win. In 2011 he was named SPFA Players' Player of the Year, Scottish Football Writers player of the year and Scottish Premier League Player of the Year.
Izaguirre was called up to the Honduras national youth team participating in the FIFA World Youth Championship in 2005. In January 2007 he made his first appearance for the senior team in the friendly game against Denmark and since then he has been a part of the national team.
