Enrique de Lucas Martínez plays for Celta de Vigo as an attacking midfielder. He was born in 1978 in L’Hospitalet, Spain. He graduated from Espanyol’s youth system and went on playing for the reserve team until he joined the first squad.
De Lucas made his debut for Espanyol in May 1998 in the match against Real Valladolid. Quique became the core player and during the 1999/2000 season he was capped 30 times and scored four goals. That season he helped the team to Copa del Rey title.
In 2001, de Lucas had a short loan spell at Paris Saint-Germain and in 2002 he left Espanyol for Chelsea, where he spent one season before returning to Spain joining Deportivo Alavés. He helped them to get promotion to the top division in 2004/05 season, though the next season they suffered relegation.
Since 2007 de Lucas spent two seasons with Real Murcia until 2009 when the footballer joined FC Cartagena.
In 2010, he signed a two-year contract with Celta and in 2011/12 he helped them to promote to the top division.
