Eran Zahavi is an attacking midfielder for Maccabi Tel Aviv. He was born on 25 July 1987 in Rishon LeZion, Israel.
Hapoel Tel Aviv is by right considered a feeder club of Israeli footballer where he spent a total of 16 years. Eran began his football grooming at Hapoel’s youth academy in 1993 and then joined a hometown club Ironi Rishon LeZion in 2003.
In 2006, he moved back to Hapoel Tel Aviv where his professional career started. Zahavi netted 27 goals in 91 games for the club and is best remembered for his mark in the 2006/07 Israel State Cup when he fired a terrific ball in the 92nd minute of extra time in a showdown against their archrival Beitar Jerusalem leading his team to a splendid championship win. Zahavi is widely renowned for his goal scoring ability, especially for his splendid scissor kicks.
In 2011, an Israeli player with a very impressive record was signed by Italian top club Palermo. The transfer fee was reportedly €1.7 million. He made his Serie A debut on 18 September 2011 and scored his maiden goal in a home game against Cagliari in 15 seconds after the kick-off three days later. In 2013 Eran returned to Israel joining Maccabi Tel Aviv.
A regular Israeli international, Eran Zahavi has been called up for Israel national team since 2010.
