Erik Jendrišek was born on October 1986, 26 in Trstená, Slovakia. Since January 1, 2011 he plays for SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga.
The beginning of Erik’s career was striking. Although he started playing in average-level club MFK Ružomberok, which, nevertheless, played in the First Division of the Slovakian Championship, he was announced the best junior player of the country in the season 2002/03. In Ružomberok he scored 29 goals in 54 games. In the season 2005/06 the footballer became the best forward of the League having kicked 21 goals, and after that he was loaned to Hannover 96. There he in little time signed a professional contract, yet it didn’t make much difference for him. In the Bundesliga Erik didn’t distinguish himself as he didn’t score in any of nine matches he appeared at. However, in his next club, FC Kaiserslautern, where he signed three-year contract, he became a first-string player. In the season 2009/10 Erik netted 15 goals. That led to the offer from Schalke 04. However, soon he lost his place in the starting line-up of the team because of Raul and Huntelaar’s transfers. That made the player look for a new club to play for, and soon he moved to SC Freiburg.
On the international arena the footballer has often been called-up to the Slovakia national team and kicked three goals in 31 matches so far. Before that he was also capped for U-19 and U-21 teams. His debut for the senior squad took place on October 11, 2008. Then he spent all 90 minutes on the field during the match against San Marino. Jendrišek also performed for the Slovakian team during the World Cup 2010.
