Erwin Mulder is a goalkeeper of Feyenoord. He was born on 3 March 1989 in Pannerden, Netherlands.
Erwin’s father was a talented goalkeeper, who made his début at the age of 16.
Mulder began to play football in local R.K.P.S.C. At the age of ten, Erwin changed his position from a field player to a goalkeeper. After one year of performance between the posts, the footballer received his first invitation to the KNVB team. That was the moment, when the player realized he was talented and started to enjoy what he did.
At the age of 12 Mulder joined the academy of Vitesse. After three seasons for the club, the footballer drew the attention of Feyenoord, which offered him a move to their academy, as the coaching staff spotted his great goalkeeping talent.
Erwin’s professional start came in 2006, when he penned his first senior contract. In 2006 the player was in Feyenoord’s fold, but he did not make many appearances for the main team of the club. Due to the lack of playing practice, the keeper was sent on a season-long loan to Excelsior.
Mulder spent the 2008/2009 season with the temporary team and took part in 36 matches out of 36 possible.
After returning to his parent Rotterdam side club, Erwin continued to compete for a place in the main team. Soon ex-first-choice goalkeeper left the squad and the footballer managed to make more appearances on the pitch, competing only with Darley. In March 2012 the club announced their wish to extend the contract with the keeper, because they believe he could contribute greatly to Feyenoord’s success.
