Eugen Polanski was born on 17 March 1986 in Sosnowiec, which is situated in Poland. He has German citizenship, and thus was once a player of the German national team. Eugen performs chiefly as a defensive midfielder.
Polanski began his career in Concordia Viersen, where he played until 1994. Later, he moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he played for ten years and got to the professional league. He began playing for the team in 2004 being a part of the first team squad. In total for Borussia, he appeared in 53 matches and scored one goal. He made his debut in the League on 19 November 2005. The match against Leverkusen Bayer ended in a 1-1 draw. But soon Polanski got out of shape and appeared seldom on the pitch. Then Borussia was promoted back to the Bundesliga and Polanski started playing for the club again, and came in on the pitch in nine games in a row. The contract with Mönchengladbach ended in 2008 and was not extended.
In the 2008/2009 season Polanski moved to Getafe Club de Fútbol on a free transfer. The team played in Primera Regional at that time. Shortly after that he got into the first team squad, where he played in 26 matches. In the 2009/2010 season Polanski move to Mainz-05. His first League match took place on 24 October 2009 in a home match against Freiburg. The footballer netted his first goal for Mainz on 13 December 2009 in a home match against Stuttgart. In 2913 Eugen penned a deal with struggling Hoffenheim.
At the national level, the player appeared in the German U-16 and U-21 national teams, and now he performs for the Polish National Team, where he has played in six matches so far.
