Ezequiel Iván Lavezzi was born on 3 May 1985 in Argentina. He currently plays as a winger for French FC Paris Saint-Germain. In that club the footballer was given shirt number 11.
Lavezzi’s senior football career began in 2003 when he was 17 years old. He left Boca Juniors and moved to Estudiantes (BA) where netted 17 goals in 39 matches.
In 2004 the winger was bought by Italian Genoa C.F.C. Almost immediately Ezequiel was given out on loan to Argentine San Lorenzo where he was successful in scoring 9 goals in 29 matches. As a San Lorenzo player the footballer helped the team to win the Clausura title in 2007.
On the expiry of the season in Argentina Lavezzi returned to Genoa. At that time broke out a match-fixing scandal in which Genoa was involved. Thus the club was relegated to Serie C1. The football player was bought by San Lorenzo for €1.2 million.
In April 2007 Ezequiel made his debut playing for the Argentine national football team against Chile. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing the Argentine Olympic football team took the gold.
In July 2007 Napoli was promoted to Serie A and looked for players to strengthen the squad. Eventually the club signed a 5-year contract with Lavezzi who was bought out for €6 million.
In the new team the winger soon showed excellent results. He celebrated a hat-trick against Pisa in the Coppa Italia soon after beginning of his run with Napoli. The footballer scored his first league goal against Udinese in September 2007. After the match which ended in Napoli’s victory 5-0 score the media announced Ezequiel to be a ‘Napoli’s star’ and nicknamed him as ‘New Maradona’. Lavezzi played for the club until the end of 2012.
In July 2012 Ezequiel Iván Lavezzi agreed to a 4-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain FC.
