Fabian Ernst is a retired German midfielder. He was born on 30 May 1979 in Hannover, Germany.
Ernst started his football career at Hannover FC youth system in 1983. In 1996 he signed a professional contract with his feeder club. In two years, when Fabian gained more experience, he made a transfer to Hamburger SV. He made a total of 48 appearances during a two-year stint at the club.
In 2000 the player moved to Werder Bremen. In the 2003/04 season he helped his club to win the German Bundesliga. Overall, he made a total of 152 appearances during a five-year stint at Werder. In 2005, Ernst joined FC Schalke 04 and played 106 matches for the club. In 2009 Fabian signed a contract with the Turkish top club Beşiktaş and became the Turkish Cup and Süper Lig winner in the 2008/09 season. After one year with Kasimpasa, Ernst retired from professional football in the summer 2013.
Since 1998 till 2001, Ernst received 31 caps to the Germany national U-21 team. In between 2002 and 2006, he earned 24 international caps to the senior national side.
