A Brazilian footballer Fábio Deivson Lopes Maciel plays as a goalkeeper for Cruzeiro. He was born on 30 September 1980 in Nobres.
Deivson came from the youth system of União Bandeirante. He was considered to be a very promising young footballer and his talent was highly valued. Very soon, the goalkeeper was invited to represent the Brazil youth national squad. Fábio’s skillful game was rewarded with the 1997 World Cup. In the same year, he graduated to Bandeirante’s senior team. In 1998, he was loaned out by Atlético Paranaense . Together with the temporary club Fábio won the state championship – the Paraná State League.
In 2000, the goalkeeper became the holder of the Brazilian Cup. At that time he was representing Cruzeiro. Very soon a long term contract was penned with the local Vasco da Gama. During the spell Deivson became the holder of the 2000 Mercosul Cup. He also won the 2003 Rio de Janeiro State League and the 2004 Rio de Janeiro’s Cup.
In 2005, he rejoined the former side – Cruzeiro. The move was a success. Maciel fitted the squad perfectly and very soon he was among the team’s anchor players. Moreover, further honors followed, with Cruzeiro winning Minas Gerais State League four times (in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2011).
