Faris Haroun is a midfielder, born on 22 September 1985 in Brussels, Belgium.
Faris’s youth career took off in the academy of Scup Jette, where the footballer managed to show promising performance. He drew the attention of various youth systems and eventually moved to R.W.D. Molenbeek. Haroun trained with the new club till 2000, when he was offered to join RSD Jette. It took the midfielder three years to give the final touch to the preparations for a senior start.
In 2003, Faris penned his first professional contract with Racing Genk and started to make occasional appearances for the team. However, he managed to clinch a regular place really soon and found the net 16 times in 104 fixtures for the Belgian side club during three years.
In 2008, the footballer transferred to top-flight Germinal Beerschot and took a key place in midfield at once. Haroun amassed 23 goals in 91 matches for the team during three seasons and moved to English side Middlesbrough. Faris featured in 64 matches and fired six goals for ‘Smoggies’ before moving to Blackpool in January 2014.
From 2003 till 2008, the midfielder took part in 46 games and netted six goals for the Belgium national U-18, U-19 and U-21 squads. From 2007 till 2009, he was capped six times for the senior national team.
