Federico Bessone Luna was born on 23 January 1984 in Córdoba, Argentina. His career took off in Spanish side Barcelona, where the footballer penned a professional contract in 2003 and made 50 appearances for Barcelona C during two seasons.
In 2005 Bessone completed a move to Espanyol, took part in 65 games and found the net one time for the reserve squad of the club. The footballer was sent on loan to Gimnàstic for the 2007/2008 season and made only 10 appearances for the temporary team.
Federico managed to fully reveal his talent only after he joined Welsh side Swansea City in 2008. He spent two seasons in the club and, despite frequent injuries, fired one goal in 36 fixtures. By the age of 26, Bessone gained imperious form and was praised for workmanlike ball handling, game vision and great physical data.
After the end of the 2009/2010 season, Swansea City offered the footballer a contract extension, but he rejected the offer so that to transfer to English side Leeds United on a three-year deal in 2010. However, his career in the new club was not very successful as Federico showed poor performance in several matches and was sent on loan to Charlton Athletic after six appearances for Leeds.
The temporary team invited the footballer for the end of the 2010/2011 season and had a right of further redemption. Bessone made 13 appearances for Charlton, but after the management signed left back Cedric Evina, their interest in the Argentine player appeased and he returned to his parent Leeds United. Despite Federico’s previous failure to clinch a regular place in the team, the head coach still hoped the footballer would have great future in ‘The Peacocks’. However, Bessone did not manage to take part in any matches due to an injury.
In August 2011, Leeds United rescinded the contract with Federico by mutual consent and he went back to Swansea City. In January 2012, the footballer made his début for the club in the FA Cup match. Later on the Argentine had spells with Swindon Town, Oldham Athletic, Sporting Kansas City and Millwall.
