Federico Marchetti is a goalkeeper for Lazio. He was born on 7 February 1983 in Bassano del Grappa, Italy.
Federico began his professional career in 2002 after signing for Torino. The debut 2002/03 season though Marchetti spent as a first-choice goalie at Serie B Pro Vercelli totaling 34 matches.
From 2003 to 2005 Federico continued his career as a loan player at Crotone, Treviso and then again at Pro Vercelli. The goalkeeper didn’t make a single appearance for the first two but made 13 for Pro Vercelli during half a season.
In 2005 Federico’s loan run came to an end after he signed a contract with AlbinoLeffe. The contract was a short and idle one though as the goalkeeper didn’t feature in any games of the club and was transferred to Biellese in the summer of 2005. During the 2005/06 season Federico made 28 appearances for the club.
In 2006 Federico was offered to return to AlbinoLeffe. Despite bad past at the club Marchetti decided to join it again and signed a long-term contract until 2009. During 2 seasons Federico was frequently included in the starting lineup with a total of 45 matches. At the beginning of 2008/09 season though Marchetti was loaned again to Cagliari where he was made number 1 goalkeeper and appeared in every match of the club. After the season was over Cagliari management decided to buy the goalkeeper from AlbinoLeffe and sign him on a permanent contract. During the following 2 seasons Marchetti made 33 appearances for Cagliari.
In 2011 Marchetti was transferred to his current club Lazio and has made 9 appearances for the club so far.
Since 2009 Federico Marchetti has been capped 8 times for the Italy national team.
