Felipe Santana is a centre-back of Schalke 04, born in Rio Claro on 17 March 1986.
At an early age Santana was invited to Figueirense youth academy, where he trained until he was invited to the club’s first team in 2006. The same year the footballer made his official debut for Figueirense. Felipe made a total of 37 appearances for the Brazilian club and netted 5 goals.
In the summer of 2008 the young back signed for Borussia Dortmund and managed to secure a permanent spot in the roster. Felipe’s Bundesliga debut fell on 21 September 2008 in a friendly 5th Round match against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. But the Borussians lost 1-4. Felipe was in the line-up and managed to contribute a consolation goal in the 90th minute. Nevertheless, in the following round the young Brazilian was again included in the starting 11 and delivered another goal in a convincing 3-0 victory over VfB Stuttgart.
From 2008 to 2013 Santana took part in 95 club’s matches, mainly as a sub for the key centre-backs – Subotić and Hummels.
