Fernando Hierro is a famous Real Madrid and Spain defender who retired in 2005.
Hierro was born on 23 March 1968 in Vélez-Málaga where he started his youth career in 1980. In 1987 the player moved to Valladolid where he played for two seasons featuring in 58 matches and scoring 3 goals.
In 1989 Hierro was purchased by Real Madrid where he became one of the most valuable and stable players. The defender made more than 500 appearances for the team and netted more than 100 goals which is the best result for a player on his position in world football. The Spaniard helped the club to claim five titles of the League and three UEFA Champions League trophies.
The defender made 89 caps for Spain and netted 29 times.
