A Spanish footballer Fernando Soriano Marco performs as a defensive midfielder for UD Almería in the second division. Fernando was born on 24 September 1979 in Zaragoza, Aragon.
Being born in Zaragoza, Soriano’s first choice was obviously Zaragoza FC. In 1997, after graduating from the youth academy, the young midfielder was selected for the club’s reserve team. He spent four years defending the B team. During that period, Fernando amassed 32 goals in 138 matches.
His success at the reserve team helped Soriano to earn the promotion to the main squad of Zaragoza in 2001. The same year, the midfielder was loaned out by Recreativo. The 2001/2002 season was lined with 39 appearances made and four galls racked up for the temporary side. After coming back to his parent club, Fernando started to make more frequent appearances as a member of the first eleven. In total, the player netted six balls in 81 games for Zaragoza.
In 2005, the midfielder’s contract was bought out by Almeria. The move turned to be a success, as Fernando started a new wonderful stage of his playing career. Very soon he turned into the team’s anchor player. He made 149 appearances and racked up 19 balls during the spell. The 2010/2011 season was spent defending the colors of Osasuna. Soriano failed to establish himself as a team’s regular, that’s why he opted to rejoin the former side Almeria in 2011. The 2011/2012 season was lined with four goals scored in 34 games.
On international level, Fernando Soriano made 14 appearances for the Spain national youth squad at U-16, U-17, U-18 and U-20 levels. He performed for the national side from 1995 to 1999.
