Fernando Torres is a Spanish footballer. He plays for Chelsea and the national team as a forward.
Torres started to play football at the age of five. When Fernando was 10 he netted 55 goals for Rayo 13 (his first team), which entailed the invitation to Atlético Madrid. Torres managed to be at his best and from 1995 his rise started. After three years of playing for the club he won his first title – the best Under-15 European Player.
Fernando signed his first contract in 1999. At the end of 2000 he made his debut as a regular and in a week he found the net for the first time.
The things with the Spain national team were going as great as with the club. In 2001 Torres scored six goals in seven games and was named the best player. In 2006 during the World Cup in Germany he netted three goals. That season was the last for Fernando in Atlético Madrid.
In 2007 Fernando Torres moved to Liverpool and turned into the best team’s goal-scorer in the first season with more than 20 goals. He was making good progress but skipped a lot of games in 2010/11 due to injuries.
On 31 January 2011, after long negotiations, Liverpool sold the forward to Chelsea. Torres signed a five-and-a-half year contract with the new club and made his debut on 6 February. However, Fernando got on the scoresheet only on 23 April in the game against West Ham United.
