His junior career started in 1990, when Filipe entered the youth department of Boavista. He studied there during eight years. Over that time he earned enough playing experience to get promotion to the senior level.
In the summer 1998, the midfielder joined Feirense, where he spent a good debut season, making 25 appearances as a starter. In the summer 1999, Filipe agreed to move to Paços de Ferreira for the following season. He made 29 appearances and proved himself to be a very useful player.
In 2000, the footballer became the member of Aves, where he was groomed during the following two seasons. He had made 45 appearances and netted 34 goals, before he was scouted by Boavista. Filipe spent two seasons as the starter of the squad, scoring 1 goal in 34 matches.
In 2004, he was loaned out by Moreirense, where he got the priceless playing experience. The 2005/2006 season would find him performing for another temporary club – Aves, where he played during two years. The midfielder featured in 27 fixtures and netted 3 goals for the squad.
In the summer 2007, a transfer to Paços de Ferreira happened. He’s already made more than 100 appearances and became the team’s anchor player.
