Florent Sinama Pongolle was born on 20 October 1984 in the French town of Saint-Pierre. He plays as a striker and a winger for FC Rostov.
In 2001, Florent signed his first professional contract with FC Liverpool. In the first season the player moved on loan to AC Le Havre, where he performed for two seasons. Pongolle played in 42 games, scoring 7 goals for the French club during two years.
Having returned from loan to the English club, Florent began to perform for FC Liverpool first team. The footballer played in 38 matches, netting 4 goals.
In January 2006, Florent moved on loan to FC Blackburn Rovers, where he played 10 matches and scored 1 goal in the period of half a year.
In 2006, Sinama Pongolle moved to Real Club Recreativo de Huelva, having signed a contract until 2008. In the Spanish club the footballer became a key player, as he was able to realize his shooter potential, netting 22 goals in 68 matches for the club.
In 2008, Florent moved to another Spanish club Atlético Madrid, where he played during the 2008/2009 season, appearing on the pitch in 40 matches, scoring 5 goals.
In 2010, the player moved to Sporting Clube de Portugal. From January 2010, Pongolle played in 5 matches, netting 1 goal for the club. In order to give the player an opportunity of playing practice, it was decided to loan him to Real Zaragoza, S.A.D. For a new temporary club Florent performed in the 2010/2011 season in 24 games, scoring 4 goals.
In 2011, the footballer again was loaned out, but this time to the French club AS Saint-Étienne.
From 2001 to 2006, Florent played for the France national U-17 and U-21 football teams, playing in 43 matches and scoring 20 goals. In 2008, Sinama Pongolle was once called up to the France national football team.
In the summer of 2012, the player moved to FC Rostov.
