Francisco Manuel Rico Castro, more commonly known as Fran Rico, is a Spanish midfielder playing for Granada CF.
Rico started his football education at the age of 14 as he joined the lines of a youth football club of Pontevedra. The footballer made his debut on December 18, 2005 in a Segunda B game against San Isidro. During the first season he was mainly a substitute but during the next few seasons he managed to become an integral part of the team.
In the summer of 2008 Rico moved to Real Madrid becoming a reserve team player that performed in the Spain’s third division. He made his debut on August 31 against Vecindario scoring his first goal for the new team. On September 14, in his third start of the season on the 8th minute of the game he was heavily injured thus being dropped out of play for the rest of the season. Only 13 month later he took the pitch against Alcalá. In less than a month, on November 8 2009 Gimnástic de Torrelavega suffered a 4-2 defeat from Real Madrid in which Rico scored twice.
During the first round of the season 2010/11 Rico scored against Coruxo FC and thus earned a victory for his side. However on August 5, 2011 he left the club and joined Granada CF.
On September 2011 Rico scored his first goal for the Andalusians. Fran Rico hit the back of the net against Osasuna that happened in his second game for the side. All in all in 2011/12 campaign Rico earned 19 appearances and gained 2 goals on his account.
