Francesco Totti is an Italian football player, a striker and attacking midfielder. He is the captain of Roma, the colors of which he has defended since 1992. He is the world champion (2006) and vice-champion of Europe as an Italian national team member. He became a European champion when he was in youth team in 1996. He played 58 games for the National team (a record figure for Roma players) and scored 9 goals. Unfortunately Francesco did not perform as good as for his native club.
Francesco is one of the top thirty players in the number of games in Serie A and is in the top ten goal scorers for one team. These achievements are the best among all players of Roma in the history of the club. Francesco is on the list of 125 best footballers in the world, compiled by Pele in 2004. Moreover, there’s even his statue at Madame Tussauds museum.
Totti’s carrier, however, is rich in discrepant actions. He argued a lot and insulted referees and opponents, quite often he played in an unreasonably rough manner and once he even spat in his opponent. After winning the World Cup, Francesco refused to play for Italian national team, which caused disappointment of his fans. According to Mauro Zarate, the reason for such negative fame of Francesco is excessive media attention.
