Frédéric Piquionne is a French striker currently playing for Portland Timbers in Major League Soccer. He was born on 8 December 1978 in Nouméa, New Caledonia.
Having spent the first season of his professional career with Nîmes Olympique, Frédéric moved to Stade Rennais where he played for three years amassing 18 goals in 83 matches. His career really took off in 2004 when Piquionne joined Saint-Étienne. He scored 11 goals during his debut season with the club which helped them to finish 6th in the Ligue 1. In the 2007/08 season, Piquionne featured for AS Monaco helping them to remain in the French top flight. He spent the next campaign playing for Olympique Lyonnais and in the 2009/10 season was sent on loan to the English team Portsmouth. Frédéric impressed already during his debut game for Pompey as he scored a brace in a 2-0 win over Rangers. He also scored two goals in the FA Cup match against Birmingham City to secure Portsmouth’s passage to the semi-finals. In between 2010 and 2012, Piquionne played for West Ham United and in the 2013 season he moved to American side Portland Timbers where he plays today.
