Leandro Freire is a defender of Vitória Guimarães. He was born on 21 August 1989 in Brazil.
The young footballer started his career at a professional level in 2008 when he signed a permanent contract with União São João. He played for this Brazilian club for a year occasionally getting into the starting XI. Freire didn’t manage to unlock his potential to the full extent that’s why he decided to leave the club at the first good opportunity.
In January 2009 Leandro joined Paraná Clube where he spent half a year. During this time the defender took part in several games, but it was all he couldn’t count on. In the summer 2009 he moved to Sport Club Recife. The situation with Freire’s appearances in the starting eleven didn’t change in his new club because he was utilized as a reserve defender and played only 5 games for half a year.
In January 2010 Leandro returned to União São João where he had started his professional career. Both parties hoped that the situation concerning the level of Freire’s performance would change. The footballer couldn’t adjust to the matches of his team. In the summer 2010 Leandro was offered to join the Portuguese outfit Vitória Guimarães. The Brazilian was glad to have such an opportunity to rehabilitate himself for the past years in the Brazilian championship. In the summer 2010 Leandro officially joined Vitória Guimarães where he occasionally earns a place in the starting line-up (as of May 2012).
