Gábor Babos is a goalkeeper of NAC Breda. He was born on 24 October 1974 in Sopron, Hungary.
Gábor’s youth career took off in local Sopron, where the footballer performed for the youth team of the club. In 1992, the management of the club offered the young keeper to pen a three-year contract. Three years later, Babos and his team were relegated from the top division, but the player got an opportunity to return to the OTP Bank Liga, because MTK decided to secure the keeper’s services after they gained the promotion.
In 1995, Gábor sealed a deal with the new club, which started to show impressing performance in the top division and managed to clinch the title of the Hungarian League Champion in 1997 and 1999 and lift the Hungarian Cup in 1997, 1998 and 2000. In 2000, Babos was voted the best goalkeeper of the league. He made 141 appearances and managed to fire one goal during his performance for MTK.
In 2000, the footballer accepted the offer of Dutch side NAK and put pen to paper of a four-year contract. Gábor did not succeed in the new club and transferred to Rotterdam side Feyenoord after taking part in 126 matches during four seasons. From 2004 till 2006 (excluding one year on loan), the keeper featured in 24 games for the Dutch top-flight team.
In 2005, Babos completed a move to NEC on loan and took a regular place between the posts of the new club. The management liked the keeper’s performance and decided to secure his services on permanent basis. In 2006, Gábor signed a contract and made 198 appearances for NEC. After that, in 2013, the Hungarian goalie moved to NAC Breda.
In 1996, Babos received his first call-up to the Hungary national team for the Summer Olympics, but observed all games from the substitutes’ bench.
From 1997 till 2009, the footballer was capped 27 times for the full national squad.
