Gabriel Tamaș is a back, born on 9 November 1983 in Braşov, Romania.
Gabriel’s professional career took off in 1998, when he signed his first contract with FC Braşov. However, the footballer spent only a year and a half there and made one appearance. In 2000 Tamaș widened his professional experience by transferring to Tractorul Braşov, where he took part in 34 games and netted three goals during two years. In the summer 2002, Gabriel moved to one of the strongest Romania side teams Dinamo Bucureşti.
In 2003 the back transferred to Galatasaray and spent one year in Turkey, making 20 appearances and kicking one goal during that time. In the summer 2004, Gabriel continued to travel round the world and went to Russian side Spartak Moscow. He was almost immediately sent on loan to Dinamo Bucureşti, where the player performed during one season, took part in 27 games and chipped in one goal. After returning to Moscow, Tamaș spent a year with his parent Spartak and made total 17 appearances.
In the summer 2006, the footballer ended his Russian career with Spanish Celta Vigo move. The 2006/2007 season was rather bright, because the head coach of the new team let him on the pitch in the starting XI 29 times. In the summer 2007, Gabriel signed for French side Auxerre and spent a year there before completing a season long loan deal with Dinamo Bucureşti, where he featured in 34 matches and banged in two goals. At the beginning of 2010, English side West Bromwich became the new temporary club for Tamaș, who got on the scoresheet twice in 23 games. After the end of his loan spell, Gabriel was asked to sign another contract with ‘The Baggies’, this time on permanent basis.
In 2013 Tamas completed a move to a Romanian side CFR Cluj but was soon released. Later on he had spells with Doncaster Rovers and Watford.
From 2003, the back has been capped 63 times and contributed three goals for the Romania national team.
