Gabriele Angella was born in Florence in 1989 and graduated from the youth academy of Empoli. Since 2008 he went on his professional career with the senior team. He made his first team appearance in a 0-0 match against U.C. AlbinoLeffe on 13 September 2008. Angella stayed with Empoli until his move to Udinese in the co-ownership deal in the last day of the 2010 summer transfer window. Angella and Diego Fabbrini moved to Udinese while Flavio Lazzari and Ricardo Chará moved in the opposite direction.
The first half of the 2011/12 season the defender spent at Siena and the second one he played for Reggina. Later on he joined Watford.
In 2009/10 Gabriele Angella was called up to play for the Italy Under-21 team and his debut was on 4 September 2009 in a 1-2 loss against Wales.
