A Cameroonian footballer with French citizenship Gaëtan Bong plays as a defender for Olympiacos as well as for the Cameroon national football team.
The defender began his career playing for FC Metz youth team. In 2006 he was promoted to the club’s senior team. In 2008 Gaëtan was given out on loan for one season to Tours FC. On 29 July 2009 he signed a contract with Valenciennes. On 20 January 2010 being a member of that team Bong netted his first goal in the league match against US Boulogne which turned out to be game winning. After four impressive years with Valenciennes Bong moved to a Greek side Olympiacos.
Moreover the defender was called up to play for the France U-21 football team. On 12 August 2009 he made the only appearance for that side in the match against Poland when he appeared as a substitute in the 56th minute.
However as soon as a Cameroonian player was invited by Paul Le Guen in 2010 Bong made a decision to represent his native country. In May 2010 he was included into the list for the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
