Gaetano D’Agostino is a midfielder of Siena. He was born on June 3, 1982 in Palermo, Italy.
From 1990 to 1998 Gaetano was trained at the Palermo academy, where he was one of the best young footballers. In 1998 he caught the eye of Roma scouts. The parties quickly reached an agreement and in 1998 D’Agostino joined the Roma youth system where he spent two years and prepared to start his professional career in football.
In 2000 Gaetano signed a contract with Roma but he failed to become a permanent member of the team. In the summer 2001 D’Agostino was sold to Bari where the midfielder managed to unlock his potential. For 2 seasons he kicked 2 goals in 63 matches for Bari. In 2003 D’Agostino returned to Roma, where he spent three not very successful seasons. The footballer rarely got into the starting eleven and was used as a substitute, which dissatisfied him greatly.
In 2005 D’Agostino decided to join Messina, where he played for a season kicking 5 goals in 42 games. In the summer 2006 the footballer moved to Udinese, where he spent 4 best seasons in his career. He managed to become one of the key midfielders scoring 12 goals in 114 matches for Udinese.
In 2010 Gaetano D’Agostino signed a contract with Fiorentina, where he played in 20 matches and kicked 5 goals in the 2010/2011 season. In 2011 the Italian midfielder signed a contract with Siena. In 2013 he had a loan spell with struggling Pescara.
From 1997 to 2004 Gaetano D’Agostino played in 49 matches and scored 13 goals for the Italy U-15, U-16, U-18 and U-21 national teams. Since 2009 he has taken part in 5 matches for the Italy national football team.
