Garath McCleary is a midfielder of Reading. He was born on 15 May 1987 in Oxford, England.
In 2005 Garath graduated from the academy of Oxford City, which was located in his native town. The footballer was given an opportunity to start his senior career with the club, where he was fostered, and he used the opportunity by penning a contract. However, McCleary spent only a season in Oxford City, made nine appearances and netted three goals.
In 2005 his career went forward at a steady gait, when the footballer joined more prestigious Slough Town. Garath spent one year there as well, but that year was more successful for the player, as he featured in 24 games and found the net six times.
In 2006 the footballer’s career reached a qualitatively new and higher level, when he completed a move to Bromley on a two-year deal. The midfielder was not the pivot of the team, but came on the pitch 35 times and fired ten goals, which became a very good result for McCleary.
In 2008 Garath finalized a three-year deal with Nottingham Forest, where he skipped games only due to health problems or tiredness after hard fixtures. The footballer made 111 appearances and went on to net 13 times during three years and a half. In 2012 McCleary’s career was given a second wind after he penned a contract with Reading, where the midfielder performs up till now.
