Gary Cahill was born on 19 December 1985 in Sheffield, England and plays for Chelsea and the national team as a left back. Due to his pace and technical ability the footballer can switch his position to a defensive midfielder or winger.
His career began in the youth set-system of Dronfield, local club in Derbyshire. From 2000 he continued to develop his skills in the Aston Villa academy and spent his next season in Burnley having no playing experience at his club. Gary was chosen the best player of Burnley after the season.
On 30 January 2008 Cahill transferred to Bolton Wanderers for £5 million. The footballer spent five seasons there and showed great performance. In the beginning of 2011-12 the management of Bolton announced the player refused to prolong the contract and on 30 December 2011 Gary joined Chelsea for approximately £7 million and became one of the keys to the Champions League and the FA Cup wins.
Gary Cahill plays for the England national team and is also eligible to play for the Irish squad. He got on the international scoresheet in the match against Bulgaria in the UEFA Euro 2012 qualifier.
