Gary O’Neil is a midfielder of Queens Park Rangers. He was born on 18 May 1983 in Beckenham, England.
In 1999 Gary penned a contract with Portsmouth and performed for the club during impressive spell. After first four years with ‘Pompey’, the midfielder was sent on loan to Walsall, where he spent a part of the season and featured in seven games. After returning to his parent club, the footballer stayed with Portsmouth during some time before going on loan again, this time to Cardiff City. O’Neil made nine appearances and fired one goal for the temporary team during six months.
In 2007 Gary ended his eight-year ‘Pompey’ spell, having taken part in 174 games and netted 16 goals. In the summer 2007, Middlesbrough sealed a deal with the player, who became a very important signing for the new club. O’Neil managed to adjust to the team in short term due to his confident performance and gained confidence of the head coach. The footballer featured in 109 matches and found the net eight times till 2011.
In 2011 Gary moved to London side West Ham United and put pen to paper of a long-term contract. The midfielder made 48 appearances during two seasons and moved to Queens Park Rangers in the summer 2013.
From 2003 till 2004, O’Neil was capped nine times for the England national U-21 squad.
