Georgios Fotakis is a Greek professional midfielder who currently plays at Sanliurfaspor in the Superleague Greece.
He was groomed at PAOK youth system in between 1995 and 1998 before joining the first team of the club. However, Georgios was not so fortunate there as he was given little playing time and played mostly for the reserves. That became a catalyst for his move to lower division club Egaleo in 2000. There Fotakis enjoyed better fortune amassing 138 appearances and 12 goals during a six-year stint.
After a lackluster short spell in Scotland with Kilmarnock, the player returned to Greece and joined Larissa. He made a total of 67 matches for the club during a three-year stint with them. In 2009, Fotakis moved back to his parent club PAOK. This time he shortly established himself as a high-key player and was given a place in the starting eleven.
In 2013 Fotakis moved to a Turkish side Sanliurfaspor.
In between 2000 and 2002, Georgios Fotakis earned 14 caps to the Greece U21 team and in 2004 he was called up thrice to the U23 squad. Since 2009, he is called up to the Greek senior side.
