Giacomo Brichetto is an Italian footballer born on 9 May 1983 in Genoa, Italy.
Formed in the youth ranks of top Italian clubs, Giacomo started out his professional career at Alessandria Calcio in 2001. But being admitted to only 8 games for the club during two seasons, he decided to try his luck at Martina Franca. He signed for Martina in 2003, but was again warming the bench for two seasons having appeared only in one game. The lack of the first team opportunities became a catalyst for Brichetto to move to Sanremese in 2005. He eventually enjoyed better fortune there, as he was established as a first-choice goalkeeper and appeared in 52 games during his two-year stint at the club.
In 2007, Giacomo Brichetto joined then-Serie C2 club Novara where he played as an undisputed first-choice and made 86 appearances before being loaned to Palermo. After a season-long loan, the Rosaneri decided to buy out Brichetto’s contract. Thus, in 2010, he was fully acquired by Serie A side. The Sicilian club could only offer a place of a third-choice goalkeeper to Giacomo, and he preferred being a bit part of a top-flight Italian squad to a first-team position in a lower tier.
In the summer 2013 Brichetto was released from the squad.
