Gianluca Nijholt is a Dutch midfielder, born on 14 February 1990. He was named after a prominent Italian forward Gianluca Vialli.
His father was a professional sportsman, so Gianluca was sent to the AZ Alkmaar youth academy at the age of eleven and spent there almost a year. In 2002-2007 the footballer played for the FC Utrecht youth squad.
In 2007 the he earned a place in the first-team and made his Eredevisie debut. During the 2010/11 season Gianluca became a regular first-team member and participated in 9 matches during the Europa League campaign. The next season Nijholt lost his first-team place, was sent on loan to the lower division club Almere City and even tried to move to some U.S. based team. In 2012 the player moved to Amkar and signed a three-year contract.
In 2011 Gianluca took part in an international fixture as part of the Netherlands U21 national team.
