Giliano Wijnaldum is a defender of AZ. He was born on 31 August 1992 in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Giliano’s career took off in 2008 in local Sparta, but he did not stay there for long and soon moved to the youth team of AZ. In 2010 the left back joined the main team of the club, was given number 32 shirt, and started to get ready for his début season. The footballer made his first senior appearance on 16 April 2011, when he came on as a substitute for Simon Poulsen in the Eredivisie match against ADO Den Haag, which ended in a 3-1 victory for Wijnaldum’s team.
Giliano’s international début came on 7 September 2010, when he was called up to the Netherlands national U-19 squad for the match against Greece, which ended in a 3-1 loss. One and a half year later, the footballer was invited to the U-20 team and took part in a 3-0 victory over Denmark on 29 February 2012. Several months later, on 1 June, Wijnaldum netted his first international goal, which turned out to be the winner in the 3-2 victory over France.
