Giourkas Seitaridis is a Greek defender currently playing for a Superleague side Panathinaikos.
He began his professional career at PAS Giannina in 1998. In the 1999/2000 season, Giourkas’es string of good performances earned the club a promotion to the Greek Superleague. In 2001, he joined the top-flight side Panathinaikos and shortly cemented his place in the starting eleven. In the 2003/04 season, Seitaridis helped the club to win the Superleague Greece and the Greek Cup. The Greek defender spent the 2004/05 campaign at a Portuguese side Porto and the next season he found himself at a Russian side Dynamo Moscow.
In June 2006, Seitaridis signed for Spanish Atlético Madrid. However, he got off to a disastrous start as he was given two red cards just in the first six games of the season. But later on the things went better and he retained the position in a starting lineup. In 2009, Seitaridis moved back to Panathinaikos where he plays today.
Giourkas Seitaridis is a regular Greek international since 2002. It was to his immense credit that Greece qualified for the UEFA Euro 2004 and eventually triumphed in the tournament.
