Giovanni Andrés Moreno Cardona is a Colombian football player who currently performs as an attacking midfielder for Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua. He was born on March 1, 1986 in Segovia, Colombia.
Moreno launched his professional career with Colombian side Envigado in 2006. During his time with the club the attacking midfielder fired 24 goals in 59 matches. In 2008 he switched to Atletico Nacional. Moreno emerged as one of the most talented players in the game while playing for Atletico. His eye for goal immediately sparked interest from Fiorentina, Olympiacos and Racing Club de Avellaneda. Giovanni opted for Racing. Soon he became a firm fans’ favourite with his stunning performance for the club. The footballer figured 51 times and blasted 12 goals. The Portuguese giant Sporting as well as some Russian clubs wanted to sign the player but Racing’s administrators turned down all the offers. In 2012 Shanghai Shenhua paid a big sum of money to secure Moreno’s signature.
Moreno’s international debut came on September 5, 2009 against Ecuador.
