Gojko Kačar is a Serbian footballer who represents Hamburger SV. He was born on January 26, 1987 in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia.
Kačar started out at Podmladak and Vojvodina. He made his debut for Vojvodina in 2002 after coming through the club`s youth academy. He appeared on the pitch 78 times and scored 15 goals for the club. His progress didn`t go unnoticed and as a result Hertha BSC secured the services of the player. The Bundesliga club has reportedly paid a fee of 3m euros.
The next step in Kačar`s career was a move to Hamburger SV on July 23, 2010. For his new club Kačar debuted in the match against Kaiserslautern. The match was going to end in a draw but Gojko set up a brilliant winner from 60 metres. Since then he has got a regular place in the team. He has participated in 44 matches and has notched 3 goals so far.
In 2007 the Serbian talent was selected for the Serbia U21 where he operated as a defender, midfielder and even a striker. The team managed to reach the final of the European U21 Football Championship. On September 7, 2008 Kačar demolished Hungary, scoring 5 goals. That notable performance helped him to become part of the final squad for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games.
On November 24, 2007 Gojko Kačar along with other nine newcomers was selected for the Serbia national U23 team. Since 2007 he has been representing the senior team.
