Gökhan Inler is a midfielder for Napoli. He was born on 27 June 1984 in Olten, Switzerland.
Inler studied at Basel youth academy but failed to take root there.
In 2004 Gökhan signed a preliminary contract with Fenerbahçe but the deal fell through and the midfielder joined the Swiss Aarau instead. There he established himself as a reliable player.
In 2006 Inler joined FC Zürich and helped his team to win the Swiss Super League in 2005/06 and 2006/07 seasons.
In 2007 Inler moved to Udinese and simultaneously played for the Swiss national team.
Inler debuted in the Switzerland national team in 2006 against Venezuela. The halfback was part of the Euro 2008 Swiss team and performed well during the tournament. After Euro 2008 there were rumors that Inler wanted to join Arsenal F.C. Those rumors did not prove to be true as Gökhan signed a contract with Udinese until 2013.
During the summer transfer window the Swiss-Turkish midfielder was about the supplement Napoli first team. On 11 July 2011 the new Napoli kits were introduced and Inler’s presence at the show was a surprise to all. Thus he confirmed his transfer to Napoli.
In 2012 Gökhan Inler won his first Coppa Italia Champion title as Napoli beat Juventus 2-0 in the final.
