Gökhan Zan was born in Antakya, Turkey on September 7, 1981. He started playing football at a youth club Hatayspor in 1997, where he stayed till 1998.
From the year of 1999 Gökhan Zan played football professionally at the same club Hatayspor. Over the year the centre back appeared 13 times and made 2 goals. From 2000 till 2003 the footballer played for Çanakkale Dardanelspor and then from 2003 till 2009 he performed for Beşiktaş, where he scored 4 goals in 76 games. Gökhan Zan was loaned to Gaziantepspor for the season of 2004/2005. His first Top Division match took place in February 2006.
On June 22, 2009 Gökhan Zan joined Galatasaray and got a number 5 jersey. His first contract expired two years later, but since the footballer had not received any offers from other clubs, he signed up with Galatasaray again till June 2014.
Gökhan Zan’s international career started on March 1, 2006, when he starred for Turkey in a friendly against the Czech Republic. The footballer also took part at Euro 2008, where he played against Portugal, then against Croatia in the quarterfinal and against Germany in the semifinal.
