Grant Holt is a striker of Wigan Athletic. He was born on 12 April 1981 in Carlisle, England.
In 1999 the footballer penned his first contract with Workington. However, in the summer the same year, Grant moved to Halifax Town and spent a year and a half there before leaving for Sorrento, where he did not stay for long either. A short spell with Barrow followed.
In 2001 Holt penned a contract with Sengkang Marine, but his career did not go well there and he returned to Barrow on permanent basis. Grant performed for the club during two years and occasionally came on the pitch both in the starting line-up and as a substitute. However, in 2003 the footballer moved to Sheffield Wednesday and netted three goals in 24 matches during one season.
Halt joined Rochdale in 2004 and spent two fruitful seasons there. He managed to confirm his status of the top-class striker by amassing 34 goals in 75 matches. In 2006 the footballer signed for Nottingham Forest, which was familiar with him by hearsay. From 2006 till the beginning of 2008, Grant performed for the club and fired 21 goals in 96 games. In January 2009, the striker was sent on loan to Blackpool, where he spent six months and made only four appearances.
In the summer 2008, Halt penned a contract on permanent basis with Shrewsbury Town. He played for it during one season and kicked 20 goals in 43 matches. The brightest period of Grant’s career came when he penned a deal with Norwich City in the summer 2009. Since then, Halt had been the anchor striker of the club and contributed 68 goals in 154 games till the summer 2013. At that time the experienced forward switched for relegated Wigan Athletic.
Half a year later he was loaned to Aston Villa.
