Grant Leadbitter is a midfielder of Middlesbrough. He was born on 7 January 1986 in Fencehouses, England.
In 2003, Grant penned his first professional contract with Sunderland after one year in the academy of the club. The footballer began to make occasional appearances, but that was not enough to clinch a regular place in the starting XI, which entailed his loan move to Rotherham United. Leadbitter took part only in five fixtures for the team during six months and returned to his parent Sunderland. However, the midfielder’s spell helped him to become more confident and take his tally to 11 goals in 111 matches for the club during six years.
In 2009, Grant transferred to Ipswich Town and cemented a regular place at the position of a central midfielder in a short term. The footballer amassed 13 goals in 116 games for the team during three seasons.
In the summer 2012, Leadbitter put pen to paper of a contract with Middlesbrough.
From 2001 till 2008, the midfielder was capped 34 times for the England national U-16, U-17, U-19, U-20 and U-21 squads.
