A Slovenian footballer Gregor Balažic plays as a central defender for Karpaty Lviv. He was born on 12 February 1988 in Murska Sobota, SFR Yugoslavia.
Gregor’s junior career passed at the academy of Benfica, which has one of the most prestigious youth systems of Portugal. Balažic graduated from the youth department and started trying to put his knowledge into practice in 2004, when he signed a professional contract with Mura. But in his debut season he made a single appearance for the team.
Nevertheless, it turned to be enough for other clubs to notice the talented young player. In 2006, he signed for Espanyol B, where he stayed for a year training ground but making no appearances.
In the summer 2007, a new contract was penned with another Spanish club – Águilas. In the 2007/08 season he made 2 appearances made. In the summer 2008, Balažic moved to Gorica. The defender clinched into the first eleven during the debut season with a new squad. In total, he featured in 72 club’s fixtures and netted 2 goals.
In 2011, Gregor was scouted by Karpaty Lviv. The 2011/12 season turned to be fortunate for the footballer, as he made 20 appearances and scored 1 goal. He continues to perform for the Ukrainian side.
Gregor performed for the Slovenia U-21 team in the 2008/09 season, making 15 appearances.
