Gustavo Adolfo Munúa Vera plays for Nacional Montevideo and the national team of Uruguay as a goalkeeper.
The first club of the footballer happened to be Club Nacional de Football. For six years with the club he won 4 titles of the Uruguayan champions making 102 appearances and even scoring 3 times (he became the first Uruguayan goalkeeper to score from a free kick).
In 2003 Gustavo was signed for six years by Deportivo de la Coruña however he never managed to become a solid first-choice keeper. He spent 6 years playing for Deportivo with 27 appearances. During this period he was involved in a fight between players of the Spanish side. In consequence Gustavo was sentenced to 6 months of prison but eventually he got away with a fine.
In June of 2009 Munúa joined Málaga. Though he was a constant first-choice appearing in all the games of that season he rejected a new deal with the Andalusians and was released from his contract.
In 2010 Gustavo moved to Levante where he became a constant first choice and made 86 appearances in 3 seasons before accepting the offer from Fiorentina in the summer 2013.
Half a year later he switched for Nacional Montevideo.
As a national team player he received his first call-up in 1998 and performed there till 2004. During this time he made 21 appearances.
