Guy Demel is a back of West Ham United. He was born on 13 June 1981 in Orsay, France.
In 1999 Guy’s professional career took off. The footballer penned a contract with French side Nîmes Olympique and made only one appearance for the club during one year.
In 2000 the young Frenchman attracted the attention of London side Arsenal, which lodged a bid for the right back. In the summer the same year, all peculiarities of the transfer were agreed and Demel officially joined ‘The Gunners’. However, Guy did not manage to come on the pitch for the club, either staying on the substitute’s bench or being out of the roster for matches.
In 2001 the footballer got a real opportunity to make up for two previous years after German side Borussia Dortmund wished to secure his services on permanent basis. After Demel went to Germany, he joined Borussia II so that to gain necessary playing experience. The back performed for the reserve team during four years, but started to make appearances for the main team in 2001. Guy featured in 73 matches and netted nine goals for the club during four years.
In 2005 Demel ended his Borussia spell with Hamburger SV move, which gave a full-scale start to his career. The footballer was often given a chance to come on the pitch in the starting line-up as a right back, and he repaid by showing confident and secure performance. During six years in the new club, Guy took part in 131 games and fired two goals.
In 2011 Demel sealed a deal with West Ham United and made seven appearances for ‘The Hammers’ during the 2011/2012 season.
From 2004, the footballer was capped 55 times for the Côte d'Ivoire national team.
